Our Projects

Microcredit Scheme
This scheme provides interest-free loans for the purpose of setting up a business to families who would otherwise be totally reliant on handouts from donors.

We are currently runnng a scheme where we have provided a number families with small amounts of money which they have used to set up small businesses (mainly small shops and poultry farms).

In another area, we have provided 20 families with some goats which they have been rearing. In almost all cases, the number of goats owned by each family has doubled or tripled, and the familes are able to pay back the initial interest-free loan provided by iQra.

Helping the Disabled
Many disabled people in Bangladesh are housebound because they cannot use their legs for whatever reason. These people are often a burden on their families who are already suffering due to extreme poverty.

We have been donating wheelchairs over the past couple of years, and have seen how the lives of these unfortunate people can change dramatically due to their newfound mobility.

Clean Water Project
We have donated a number of tube wells in different parts of Bangladesh. Each tube well provide fresh, clean water to many families, and thereby prevents diseases that they would otherwise catch from dirty, polluted they would otherwise drink from ponds and rivers.

We need your help to install more of these tube wells to provide clean, safe drinking water, and avoid diseases and deaths among th worlds poorest people.

Vocational Training
We have been providing training on sewing machines to poor and destitute women. These women are often widows and have to provide for their families. After completing a training course, the women are given a sewing machine which they can use to generate some income by making and mending clothes for neighbours. The machines can also be used to make and mend clothing for their families.

Education
We are currently raising money for our educational fund which is used to provide eductional resources to poor students and scholarships to oustanding students who would otherwise not be able to continue their studies beyond primary school.
