iQra International Football Tournament 2018

A five-a-side football tournament, organised by Iqra International, which took place on Sunday 26th August at Newham Sports Centre in Prince Regents Lane has raised significant amount for Iqra International Charity – iQra International is a UK registered non-profit humanitarian charity organisation whose mission is to help restore dignity to the millions of disabled people in developing countries. For the past 22 years, we have not only provided essential medical support and aid to thousands of disabled children and adults around the world who are unable to afford it, but have also raised much needed awareness of the plight of disabled people in developing countries who face daily neglect and discrimination.

Robi-bar FC, a team representing players from Poplar area, took the glory after beating 7 teams of different ages and ability from all over east London.

Zia Rahman, CEO of Iqra International said: “This fundraiser football tournament was another huge success and raised significant funds was a combination of generous donations from various employees, their family and friends. We are very grateful as the money is going to such a good cause which does so much for disadvantaged disable children of Bangladesh.”

Even though it rained, players were still committed and it didn’t dampen their spirit. All teams were eager and committed to winning the tournament. It was a fun day for all participants, not only just playing football, also various tasty food was provided by Iqra International.
General comment and feedback from the participants was that they all enjoyed the tournament and they are looking forward to taking part in the next tournament to be organised by IQra International.
