Flood in north eastern part of Bangladesh triggered by downpour and onrush of water from the upstream Meghalaya hills in India.

Help Severe Flood Victims in Bangladesh

Heavy rainfalls as well as onrush of water from the upstream have led to sever flooding in low-lying areas of the northeastern districts mainly Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Sylhet and Sunamganj in Bangladesh.

The two rising rivers namely Shurma and Kushiyara inundated several hundred villages in Zakiganj, Kanaighat, Fenchuganj, Beanibazar, Golapganj and Osmaninagar upazilas in the last seven days. Besides, Goainghat and Companiganj upazilas were hit by flash floods due to the onrush of water from the hills of Meghalaya.


According to reports, several hundred thousand People have been suffering badly in affected areas as the water is showing no sign of receding. Children are also being severely affected by the floods as education institutions remained closed and waterborne diseases like diarrhoea and skin problems are spreading in an epidemic form.
